老师：Hello everyone. In this lesson, we will continue to learn Book 2, Unit 4. I'm very happy to be here to share something about history and traditions with you. In this class, you will obtain key information on Ping Yao from the listening material. You will also infer the speaker's feelings from the conversation, and you will role play a conversation about an imaginary trip to Ping Yao. What's more, you will talk about your own visiting experience of a historic destination.
老师：Talking about Ping Yao, do you know this place? It's an ancient city located in the center of Shanxi Province with all the features from Ming and Qing dynasties. It is also called the Turtle City, not only because its shape looks like turtle from overlook, but also because turtle is a good symbol of long life.
老师：Have you ever been to Pingyao? If you have been there, what's your impression of it? Yes. Some of you will say it's old, while others may think it's full of history. Then can you mention some of the places of interest or historic sites there? Very good. Some of you will think of Ming Qing Street. It is one of the most famous places of interest in Pingyao.
老师：Some of you will mention Yusheng Chang Bank. this is yu Shenchang bank the origin of all kinds of modern banks now it is a museum， some of you will think of shuanlin temple this is shuanlin temple。 It has a history of more than 1000 and 400 years. There are a lot of life like sculptures in the temple. It was listed into the World Cultural Heritage List in 1997.
老师：双林寺里面有很多栩栩如生的雕塑，双林寺在 1997 年就被列入了世界文化遗产名录。
老师：Some of you will also think of the city wall together with Shuang Lin Temple. The city wall is also on the list of World Cultural Heritage. Okay, you really know a lot about Ping Yao. However, I'm sure there are some of you who haven't got the chance to visit Pingyao. I'm sure you want to know more about the city. So today we will listen to a conversation about Ping Yao. Backpacker Paul is talking to a receptionist Xiaoyan at an international youth hostel in Pingyao, China. Do you know what a backpacker is? A backpacker is a person who goes traveling with a backpack. Please listen to their conversation and tick the places mentioned on page 43.

Let's look at these pictures. As we can see, a courtyard refers to the open space surrounded by by houses or walls. Okay, let's go on. The city wall, ancient government office, Yusheng Chang Bank, Zhengguosi Temple, Qiao Family Courtyard, Mount Mian, Shangling Temple. Okay, now let's listen to the conversation.
