19 Unit4 History and Traditions Listening and Speaking

  老师:Hello everyone, I'm Emma from Beijing Guangqiman Middle School. I'm so happy to be here learning and exploring something together with you. I'm sure we will have a great time together. Today we will learn Book 2, Unit 4, history and traditions. This class we will focus on listening and speaking. In this class, you will collect information about Confucius and his ideas on education through listening and identify the English idioms used in the conversation. Let's begin. First, please look at this picture. Who is this person? Right? This is Confucius. Please read after me.

  老师:Confucius. Confucius, what do you know about this person? Yes, we know that Confucius is a great educator in China. And you must be familiar with the name of a place?

  老师:Qifu. Do you know qifu? Have you ever been there? What do you know about it? Some students may have been too qifu. We know that Qifu is a city in Shandong Province, and it is the hometown of Confucius. Please look at some photos of Qifu and share what you can say about these places. Think for a while and share with us. The first place is the temple of Confucius. It is the most famous and largest temple honoring Confucius.

  老师:And is the principal place for offering sacrifices to Confucius. The second place is Kong family mention, located to the east of the temple of Confucius. This was the historical home of the descendants of Confucius. Today, this is a museum.

  老师:The third place is the Cemetery of Confucius. This is where Confucius and his descendants are buried. There are more than 10000 of them buried here over 2000 years. Today, we will listen to a conversation about Qifu. Please look at the table on page 38 and predict what the conversation is mainly about. Now listen to the conversation and check your prediction.
