7 Unit2 Wildlife Protection Listening and Speaking

  老师:Hello everyone, welcome to the English class. Our topic today is wildlife Protection. In this class, you'll use visuals to predict content. Before listening. You'll listen and talk about facts and opinions about endangered wildlife. You will also recognize the stress patterns of polysyllabic words and read these words correctly. First, I like to introduce a pre listening tip. Use visuals to predict content before you listen. Look at pictures, charts, videos and other visuals to help you predict what you will hear before listening.

  老师:While looking at visuals such as pictures, charts and videos, you can think about some of the following questions. Where was this picture taken? When was it taken? In the past or recently? What is happening in the picture and why is it happening? How does the picture give us an idea about what we are going to hear or read?

  老师:Now let's practice using visuals to predict content. Turn to page thirteen, please. Take a look at the same picture. What can you see? Yes, we can see a hat of an African elephant. We can see its large ears. It's tasks, a long trunk. Do you know the functions of these body parts? Very good. It's big ears can help it here, keep it cool and make it look bigger when in danger. Its tasks are basically overgrown teeth. They can be used for finding food and for Protection. Tasks are made of ivory. Ivory is the main reason why elephants have been hunted. The trunk can be used to smell. It can also be used to suck up water and pick up things. And even the young elephants, you see each of the body parts is very useful and necessary, isn't it?

  老师:The animals in the background are antelopes in southern Africa. Please think about two questions. Number one, what do you think of when you see this photo? Take myself, for example. I think of Africa and all the amazing animals that live there. I also think of how I love elephants. What about you? Thank you for sharing.

  老师:The second question, do you think that elephants are an endangered species? Yes, some elephants are endangered in some parts of the world. They are hunted for their tasks in some countries, which has made their numbers four.

  老师:Have you thought about another question? What other white animals are in danger? There are lots of white animals in danger around the world, such as tigers. They are often in danger because of the human activity which threatens them directly, all the environment they need to survive.
