  老师:Hello everyone. Welcome to my class. Today we're going to read and think about cultural heritage and understand how a problem was solved. In today's lesson, you will identify the problem mentioned in the text and explain how the problem was solved and discussed the significance of solving the problem. Let's first of all read the title and look at the photos. What do you think the tax is about? What is the title? What do you know about the pictures? How are they connected? Some say the title suggests the text is about how people have solved problems, because they're going from the problems to solutions.

  老师:As for the pictures, the pictures show some ancient statues. They might be from Egypt. Egypt, one of the countries with long history and profound culture. I see exactly the large faces look as though they have been moved from where they first were. Perhaps the problem is related to this.

  老师:Now read a text and check. Confirm your predictions. Very good. The text is about the problem and a solution. The Egyptian government faced a challenge to find and keep the balance between economic progress and the Protection of cultural size, cultural heritage. And they solved the problem with the help of the United Nations, the international community. Have you made a correct prediction?

  学生:In the 1950s, the Egyptian government wanted to build new dam across the Nile in order to control floods, produce electricity and supply water to more farmers in the area.

  学生:After listening to the scientists who had studied the problem and citizens who lived near the dam, the government turned to the United Nations for help in 1959.

  老师:And in 1960.

  学生:Finally, a document was signed and the work began in 1960.

  老师:In 1961,20 years, 22 temples, 15 countries and $80 million.

  学生:In 1961, German engineers moved the first temple. Over the next 20 years, thousands of engineers and workers rescued 22 temples and countless cultural relics. 50 countries donated nearly $80 million to the project.

  老师:And also, in 1980.
