  老师:Hello everyone. Welcome to my class. Today we are going to talk about traveling around. Now in this lesson, you will first listen and get the main idea of a natural telephone conversation and infer the two speaker's relationship. Then you will analyze how the phone call is developed and what formal and applied expressions are used. In the end, you will role play a phone call to make a reservation.

  老师:Now let's get started. Have you ever made any reservations? Maybe a dinner table or a hotel room? What should we reserve before a while we travel? Yes, good. Besides booking a hotel room, we may also need to book some flight or train tickets and tickets for some scenic spots and so on.

  老师:Then when we are talking about making these reservations, what words or expressions come into your mind? You must have come up with a lot right now. Here are some examples. We meet refer to some phrase like travel dates, prefer time, departure city and arrival city, one way or return tickets, flight class like first class, business class and economy class. And also method of payment, kind of room like 2 single bags, double bed, working bed and checking, no checkout time, special requests and so on. Now let's listen to two speaker's conversation and see what are they talking about and what is the relationship between them. Listening.

  学生:I'd like to buy a plane ticket from London to Paris.

  学生:Certainly, sir, on what day to you traveling?

  学生:On December 23rd.

  学生:There are two flights that day, one in the morning at 9:30 and the other in the afternoon at 5:00. Which do you prefer.

  学生:The 9:30 flights, please.

  学生:Would you like to travel business class or economy?

  学生:I'd like to travel business class.

  学生:Would you like to book a return flight this time?

  学生:No, thank you. I'm taking the train back.

  学生:May I have your name, sir?

  学生:Robert Williams.

  学生:Thank you, Mr Williams. I've made your booking. May I ask how you would like to pay?

  学生:By credit card.

  学生:Okay, wait just a second, please.

  老师:Okay. What are the two speakers talking about? Yes, very good. They are talking about buying a plane ticket. Then what is the relationship between them?
