  老师:After a few days at school, you have made a lot of friends. Here is a conversation. How is it different from the ones that we have practiced in the last two periods? Can you find it? Let's read. Good afternoon. My name is Linda Smith. May I know your name? I am Helen and my family name is Jones. Nice to meet you. What's her name? She is Mary Brown. Is he Jack? No, he isn't. His name is Tom. Tom Green. Can you see the difference from the conversation we have just read? You may have noticed that the names have become longer. This is the general knowledge of English names. There are two parts in an English name, first name and family name. For example, here is an English name, Linda Smith. Linda is the first name, or we can also say given name, and Smith is the last name, or we can also say family name or surname. And there are some common family names in English. They are green, Miller Smith, Brown, Jones, Williams, Johnson and Wilson.

  老师:Here's the difference between Chinese and English names. Here is a Chinese name, Li Hua, and here is an English name, Linda Smith. In a Chinese name, Li Hua, we put last name or family name or surname in the first place, and we put the first name and given name in the later place. So this is the difference between Chinese and English names. In Chinese, we usually put the family name first and the given name last.
