老师：As we can see in this picture, a gentleman is holding a child in his arms. And please have a closer look at this picture. Try to find how they feel from their facial expressions. We can see the gentleman seems quite expectant. However, the child feels a little bit unhappy.
老师：And there is another picture on page twenty. Unlike the first one, this is a colorful photo. A little girl is patting the old gentleman on his shoulder, and the gentleman smiles very happily, and so.
学生：Does the girl.
老师：Actually, this old gentleman is exactly the same person as the young man on page twenty. And you may have also noticed that the girl is wearing a small hat. And can you guess her identity? Yes, she is a Jewish. It is a typical way of dressing for Jewish people to show their religious belief. Can you guess what is their relationship? Father and son in the first picture. Oh, Grandpa and granddaughter in the second one. What might he have done? Maybe.
老师：It is hard for you to predict just by watching these two pictures, and there are some more clues for you to follow. There is a word cloud on page twenty. All the words are relevant to the gentleman's life and acts. Let's go over the words and try to group them according to the part of speech. You may have already found out that most of them are nouns or noun phrases. Let's go over them together.
老师：Frightened children, heartbroken parents, various owners. Owner means an award, official title given to somebody as a reward for something that they have done. Nazis, Jewish, Britain. Here it is necessary to introduce the historical background of these three words. Nothing came to power in Germany during the Second World War, and at that time they murdered quite a number of the Jewish people and Britain was fighting against the Nazis in Germany during the Second World War.
老师：Public attention, forgotten journals, these two phrases seem quite contrary to each other. If something is forgotten, it won't catch. The public attention journal is quite similar to diary and you may write about what you have done and seen and probably how you felt, but it has a new meaning in this text.
