42 Unit 8 Grammar Present continuous tense

  老师:Hi everyone, welcome to my class again. I'm your English teacher, Carol, from Suzhou Lida Middle School. Today we will keep on talking about Unit 8, grandma part. It's about the present continuous tense. So what is present continuous tense?

  老师:Firstly, look at this picture. What are they doing? Can you describe the picture for me? These kids, they are visiting a museum and the teacher with a smile is guiding these kids to visit the museum. So this tense is a present continuous tense. We use the present continuous tense to talk about things that are happening. Now the structures is like this, the verb B and doing. And we can use different forms of B verb, right? M is R. We say I am doing something, he is doing something, she is doing something, it is doing something, you are doing something, we are doing something and they are doing something so don't forget about the verb b and also don't forget about to add ing after the verb.

  老师:Now here is a exercise. Can you try to use the correct forms of B verb to complete these sentences? We can go through these sentences very quickly together. First one I I'm listening to the teacher. Sam is playing with a toy car, Judy and Ann are writing a note to Fred. My dog is waiting for me.

  学生:Harry and John.

  老师:Are reading a magazine. My parents are working. Mrs. Green is cooking. Okay, can you find the correct answer yourself? Then next, let's try to describe the different actions with the present continues tense. So what are they doing?

  老师:Start. What is Ben doing? He is playing football. Then what? Can you complete the sentence? What are Lucy and Roy doing? They are playing volleyball. What is Mister White doing? He is running. What are Mister and Mrs. Davis doing? They are joking and talking. What is Rick doing? He is doing his homework. Then Jane and Mary. What are Jane and Mary doing? They are listening to music. What is Wendy doing? She is playing the piano. What are Lily, Fred and Lucy doing? They are waiting for the bus. What is the bird doing? It is flying. Okay. Can you find out the structure of the present continuous tense now?

  学生:好,我们来总结一下我们的结构部分,我们需要用主语或者主语的代词加上 be 动词,再加上动词的现在分词。

  老师:then we should pay attention to the verb forms in present continuous tense right,那么我们来看。

  学生:一下这些动词形式的不一样的变化。

  老师:Firstly, for most of verb, we just add.

  学生:In. i n g 对于大部分动词来说,直接加上 i n g 就是它的现在分词了。那么你可以从 build 变成。

  老师:building,okay, wash 变成washing, eat 变成eating,sleep,sleeping,flying。
