老师：What was your father doing at this time yesterday?
老师：He was reading newspapers on the sofa.
老师：What were your neighbors doing between six PM and eight PM?
老师：They were watching TV in the living room.
老师：What was your friend doing from 8 to 10 yesterday evening?
老师：She was playing computer games.
老师：We use past continuous tense to talk about things that were happening at or during a particular time in the past, such as at 8 yesterday morning, from 2 to 5 last Sunday afternoon, and when the earthquake started.
老师：From the examples, we can know that the positive form of past continuous tense is subject plus was, war plus doing.
老师：We use was doing with the pronoun he, she, it, and I, we use word dealing with the pronoun you, they and we.
老师：Now let's make a dialogue between the reporter and teeny about what they were doing during the earthquake.
老师：Were you doing your homework at the beginning of the earthquake?
老师：No, I wasn't. I was sleeping.
老师：Was your father sleeping between 1:00am and 2:00am?
老师：No, he wasn't sleeping. He was hiding under the desk.
老师：Were your neighbors running in all directions at 2:00am?
老师：Yes, they were.
老师：Were the soldiers saving Timmy from 2:00am to 3:00am?
老师：Yes, they were. From the dialogues, we can work out the question forms. Was I sleeping? Were you, we, they sleeping? Was he, she, it sleeping? And answers to the questions are, yes, I was. No, I wasn't. Yes, you, we, they were. no u v they werent。 Yes, he, she, it was. no he she it wasnt。 And we can also work out the negative four subject plus was war plus not lots doing.
