I'm a teacher from Beijing Chaoyang Foreign Language School. I'm very pleased to give you a lesson here. You must have enjoyed lots of funny stories in your previous lessons. I think you are ready to learn more and take more challenging tasks. So here is a chance for you, our writing workshop. In this lesson, you will enjoy more funny stories. But what is more rewarding is that you are supposed to learn about the tips for funny story writing and try to write your own funny story.
老师：Now let's get ready for writing. We are going to start our lesson with a funny story, but the ending is missing. You need to add an ending to make it a funny one. Here is the first part of the story.
老师：One day, Mister Smith drove his car to meet his friends at the station. When he found there was still quite some time before the train arrived, he decided to take a short sleep. He was about to fall asleep when a young lady came and asked him for time. Mister Smith opened his eyes and answered, 8:30, with a gentle thank you. The woman left.
老师：After a short while, this happened again. So Mister Smith wrote, I don't know the time, on a piece of paper and put it on the window of his car. But only a few minutes later, can you guess what would happen next?
老师：Dear students, I'm sure you can't wait to get the ending. Please think of an ending based on the first part of the story. Remember, it has to be a funny one. You have one minute to do this. Now you can compare your ending with the original one. Let's read the original ending together. But only a few minutes later, an old man came and woke him up. Hi, young man. I can tell you the time. It's 9:00. Now. Isn't it funny? Yes, definitely. But what is funny about the ending?
老师：The funny part is that the men wrote, I don't know the time, on a piece of paper and put it on the window of his car because he didn't want to be bothered anymore. But at the end of the story, it turned out that his idea of putting up a piece of paper to stop himself being bothered never worked the way he had wanted. He was still disturbed, but the difference was that this time he was offered the time, not ask for the time.
老师：Let's move on to the next task, read for writing. Before we get started, let's take a look at some pictures. What can you see in these pictures? In Picture 1, we can see lots of people crowding around a desk. In the second picture, we can see a large screen which shows the information of flights. Most of them are delayed. The third picture shows some people waiting in a line, obviously impatient and bored and frustrated.
