老师:Now let's get started. Writing workshop a fore and against essay. Learning targets. In today's lesson we will. 1 read and talk about a fore and against essay about factory farming. 2. Analyze the structure and language of A4 and against essay. 3 write a fore and against essay. Let's see the meaning of 4 and against. First, what does 4 hear me? 4 here means in favor of or in agreement with. What about against? Against here means in disagreement with. Then we'll see what is in a fore and against essay. Normally in a fore and against essay, it includes two sides, pros and cons to an arguments and the others opinions.

老师:Here's a table with two topics. Let's think of ideas both for and against each one. You have 5 to 7 minutes to complete the information. In the table on the left column, we have two statements to discuss. The first one is we should only have organic farming. And the other one is we should not use animal products for food, for clothing. The second column is for you to present arguments for the topic. And the third is for you to present arguments against the topic. The last column is to express your own opinion. Please brainstorm ideas for each one.

老师:Before discussing the two statements, we need to think about what organic farming is. So do you know anything about organic farming? Students may say organic farming is the production of food using all natural methods, avoiding all synthetic chemicals and genetically modified organisms. It has numerous ecological benefits. Using fewer pesticides reduces soil erosion and recycles animal waste back into the farm, which lifts the earth in its natural state after harvest. Free of artificial fertilizers and pesticides, organic food is often with higher quality and nutritional value. Goods produced on an organic farm tend to be more expensive because organic farming is more labor intensive and the tools for farming organically tend to be more expensive.

老师:Now let's take the first topic as an example. We have the statement here, we should only have organic farming. The arguments for the topic is that because there are no chemicals used in the process of granic farming, food produced by organic farming is of higher quality and more nutritious than food we usually see on the market. The argument against the topic is that organic foods are often higher in cost and many families simply cannot afford the cost. Your opinion is that we should encourage organic farming, although we would have to pay more.
