老师:Hi, dear students, welcome back to our English class. Today we are going to learn unit 7, Lesson 26. What are the 12 animals? Are you ready? Let's begin. By the end of this lesson, we'll be able to talk about the names, the order and the cycle of the birthyear animals. And also we can tell one of the stories about them. 2Nd, we can remember one's favorite birth year animals and their traits.

老师:Before we start this lesson, I'd like to introduce you something about myself. I am a quiet person. It means I don't talk much, but I'm very patient with my students. As a teacher, I work very hard at my job, so I can say I'm very hard working. Can you guess what my birth year animal is? Yes, you're right. I was born in the year of the ox. Now, can you tell more about me? Maybe you can tell my age. You see, the ox is coming next year, so I must be either eleven, 23 or 35 years old, right? I am 35 years old now. How amazing, isn't it? Yes. This is our traditional Chinese wisdom.

  老师:这就是我们中华民族的传统智慧结晶。

老师:So I believe many of you are very interested in it. As you know, our Chinese ears are named after the 12 animals. Do you remember all of them? Let's review Lesson 23. Sarah and Yang Yang talked about the name, the cycle and the stories about the Chinese year animals. Sarah wants to know what the 12 birthday animals are. Can you answer her question? That's right.

学生:They are rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

老师:And they also talked about the cycle of the 12 animals. She has two questions.

学生:How often does each animal come around? Every 12 years? Which animal was the first of the twelve? It was the rat. The rat starts the cycle.

老师:The cycle of the birthday animals start with the right and ends with the pig, and it goes round and round every 12 years. I have two more questions just as Sarah. Who decided the order of the animals and how was the decision made? Do you remember?

学生:The Jade Emperor held a swimming race to choose animals for the names of the years? Those 12 animals were faster than others.

学生:Then the Jade Emperor decided to name a year after each of them.

老师:In Unit 7, Sarah and Yang Yang talked about the names, the cycle and the story about the Chinese healthier animals. Now let's read a passage about it. Can you find this passage? It's on page 57. Can you match the three labels with the correct sentences in this passage? Let's do it together. The first and the second sentence tell us about the name and the cycle of the birther animals. Let's raise them together.

学生:Chinese years are named after 12 animals. They are rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

老师:About this order, there are many different stories about it. Here is one
