  老师:Hi there, senior 2 graders. It's time for another video lesson of vocabulary of Unit 3 under the C. In today's class, you will learn some new words and expressions in the reading part and then use them in different situations properly. Let's get started. As usual, we will go through these words and phrases together.

  老师:First, help out, annual witness, sort out, accommodation, dive, flee, drag, urge, abandon. Let's see. A frizzle verb, added adjective in the first sentence. The reading passages, two anecdotes in which the writer showed us how the killers helped the whalers out in catching whales that were on their annual migration.

  老师:Help out, the frizzle verb. Help out means to assist or aid somebody, especially by sharing the burden, you may say help somebody out or just help out. Look at the examples. We are glad to do what we can to help you out. My children help out when the restaurant is very busy. The adjective annual, it means happening or done once every year. You can use it to modify lots of nouns such as annual report, annual meeting, annual rainfall, etc. Here's an example. With annual precipitation close to zero, Antarctica is technically a desert. Now let's go to another word in sentence two. I thought at that time that it was just a story, but then I witnessed it with my own eyes. Many times.

  老师:In this sentence, witness is a verb meaning to see something happen, typically a crime or an accident. Sometimes it can also be used as a noun, which means a persona to see something particular happen.

  老师:We have three examples here. Did you witness the robbery? The world is witnessing the splendid time of our country. The police found the witness to the murder case. Another phrasal verb.

  老师:And anon. And sentence three, as I was sorting out my accommodation, I heard a loud noise coming from the bay. If you sort something out, you separate things in different classes, groups or places for different users. Or sometimes it can also mean to solve problems.

  老师:Look at these two examples. Sort out all your bills and receipts as quickly as possible. We've got some little problems to sort out. And then now accommodation. There are so many letters in this word that you have to pay attention to its spelling. It means somewhere to live or to stay, often also providing food or other services. In British English, it's uncountable, but in American English, it's usually used as accommodations.

  老师:Okay, let's go to another two verbs. Dive and flee in Sentence 4. And those others started from diving or fleeing out to sea. This sentence may help picture in your mind the set of the killers hunting a whale. Dive means jump into water or go under the surface of water.

  老师:Look at the first two examples. We dive into the river to cool off. The
