He means causing a lot of disagreement because many people have strong opinions about a subject being discussed. Abstract, being insult, but not having a physical or practical existence. Reputation, the opinion that people have about someone or something because of what has happened in the past. Critic, someone whose job is to make judgments about the good and bad qualities of art, music, films and so on.
老师：Gallery is a large building where people can see famous pieces of art. Typical means having the euro features or qualities of a particular group or thing. Conventional is similar. It means used for a long time and considered the euro type. Delicate, made skillfully and with attention to the smallest details. Ridiculous, very silly or unreasonable.
老师：Now please use the words we Learned just now to complete this description. This description is about Picasso and his painting. You have 3 minutes to do this exercise.
老师：Now let's check the answer. As we can see, this painting consists of shapes and patterns totally different from you see in your daily life. So paintings by Picasso are considered to be abstract. He didn't use the usual way of painting. That is to say, he didn't use conventional way of painting. Instead, he concentrated on certain qualities of the object. Though he had a high limits. He was very famous, though he had a high reputation, he was a controversial figure. There is a lot of disagreement about him and his painting. Some people, especially critics, hold a negative view about his painting. I hope this exercise can help you understand the meaning of these words better.
