  学生:那么在这个句子当中,动词 i n g 形式 getting here 是这个句子的主语部分。因为刚刚在我们的翻译中,我们说为到达这里这件事儿是非常困难的。而且通常情况下,一个句子的主语部分通常位于谓语动词的前面。那么在这个句子中, getting here 位于谓语动词 is 的前面,所以我们说它是这个句子的主语部分。

  老师:Right and then lets go on with the next sentence being in such a beautiful and well place makes me feel blessed to be alive, would you please try to translate it.

  学生:Excellent.在这样一个美丽而荒野的地方之中,使我感到活着非常幸福。

  老师:so what is the subject。 Very good here being in such a beautiful and well placed is the subject because it is followed by the verb mix. So the pattern for the ing form as the subject would be doing something as the subject plus a verb. And usually we need to change the verb into the singular form like the two sentences on the screenshow.

  老师:Okay, next please find more sentences with the ing form as the subject from this text. Okay, please open your textbook and turn to page 26. Go through the first paragraph and find a sentence with the ing form as the subject. Okay, what's the sentence? That's right.

  老师:In the second sentence we can find the ing form as the subject and it is, even though the sun is brightly shining, telling whether it is morning or night is impossible. Would you like to try to translate it into Chinese? Very good. We can translate it as.

  学生:是太阳在明亮的照耀着,辨别是否是早上或晚上这件事儿是不可能的。

  老师:And what is the subject in the main class?

  学生:那么在这个句子的主句。

  老师:telling whether it is morning when night is。

  学生:impossible 当中,我们的主语是哪个部分?

  老师:Right here, telling whether it is morning or night is the subject, because it is placed before the verb is right.
